The social and economic costs, deriving from the direct and indirect effects of one kg. of CO₂, have been the subject of numerous estimates and evaluations. The latest in-depth study* sets this cost at 220 USD, even if there are much higher estimates (800 USD source EIEE). It is now incontrovertible that climate change, of which the CO2 component is the main cause, has an impact not only in terms of direct and indirect costs but also in a lack of economic and social growth. A product containing 1 kg. of silk fibre demonstrates in an incontrovertible way, and in contrast to other fibres, a "Revenue", a positive economic/social factor, quantifiable in USD 161.73.
